It has been an eventful two weeks for me.
It all started out by having to purchase a suit. I am one who wears board shorts and sandals or Pepperdine gear and Asics running shoes just about everyday ... so the suit hunt was quite interesting. I didn't know where to start, but after some research, advice from friends, I landed a great Hugo Boss suit! It was perfect for my Arizona trip where I was asked to speak at the NJCAA, Division II Conference banquet. The trip to AZ was quick but awesome--I shared by experience of coaching the girls (Kerri & Misty) to the 2012 London Olympics and had the opportunity to connect with some great coaches! I would love to go back next year and can't thank Samantha enough for being such a great host!
Also, last week was the beginning of something new for myself and iDrills. I was asked by Holly McPeak and the rest of the Elite Beach Volleyball Staff to coach the 6th-8th graders who joined their beach club. What a great opportunity!
I took the offer, gathered a few coaches who I have worked with before and off we went! We were suppose to start in January but decided to start late November so we could practice two additional months... after all we do live in Southern California and have great weather! November and December we will practice Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday. Once January 2015 hits, we will practice Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday. So far it has been AWESOME! The girls are so focused and ready to learn. They have been working hard and getting to know one another as well as getting to know myself, Jessica, and Chynna! I am really looking forward to the success of this group of girls throughout the next 6 months. And, thank you Holly, Eric, and Barb for thinking of me to join Elite Beach Volleyball!
A few photos below from the first week of practice ...
And of course, counting the days till Antonio is back at Dad's house :) 26 more days
Until next time... Beijos!
