For the past two months we have begun our qualification process for the Road to Rio. Kerri and April have been AWESOME and working hard each and every day. In the sand, in the gym, and taking the "off" days at the right time. We started off in Rio in early March. Came out strong right out of the gate, we brought home the Gold at the Rio Grand Slam and a Silver at the Vitoria Open.
We came back home to continue to prepare knowing our next stop would be two tournaments in China. I could not attend the China trip due to conflicts with the Pepperdine Beach team. With that said, Kerri and April took home the Bronze medal at the Xiamen Open. Continuing on to Fuzhou Open where they battled hard to come out on top, bringing home the Gold. I must say, what a great start to the 2016 season...earning a spot on the podium at each tournament. Go USA!
Like I said above, while they were in China battling hard, the Pepperdine Beach team was preparing at Zuma for the WCC Championships. We traveled down to Santa Monica and took on the other schools in our conference. We left Santa Monica on Saturday as the WCC Champions! The team played well but have already shifted our focus back to training so that we can be prepared for Alabama. We leave for Alabama Wednesday, where we will compete to hopefully bring home another National Championship to Pepperdine. We start the tournament against the University of Arizona... Go Waves!
Lots to look forward to in the coming weeks! Kerri and April will get back on the sand here in the United States and will play in the AVP Huntington this weekend. Pepperdine will be off to Alabama this week, and in exactly 10 days Antonio and the rest of the family and friends will be flying here to celebrate Syd and I getting married. May will be a good month :)
More updates to come soon...
